Length of Growing Season

A warming Arctic may result in a longer growing season in some regions. The length of the growing season, defined here as the continuous number of days in which the minimum daily temperature remains above freezing, is projected to increase for most of the Arctic. The European Center at Hamburg, Germany (ECHAM5) climate model projects growing season increases of several weeks (yellow) to as much as several months (dark reds and violet).
